Weebly has made a lot of progress in 2011, but we're not done yet. With so much cool stuff coming up, we're excited to announce a new upgrade: Multiple Columns. You can find this option under the elements tab when you're editing your site, hanging out where the Two-Column element used to be.

The highlights of this feature include:
  • Multiple Columns: you're not just limited to 2 columns anymore; you can now choose between 2-5 columns.
  • Flexible Spacing: Choose the amount of spacing between columns: Small? Medium? Large? You got it.
  • Improved Preview: We've improved the appearance so your content is displayed exactly how it will look on the published site... what you see is what you get!
  • Automatic Upgrade: Your old 2 column elements are automatically upgraded to the new multiple column elements.
  • Available in Blog Posts: The new multiple column element can now be used in all of your blog posts!
Want to see exactly what this looks like? We've put together a short video to showcase exactly how this feature can be used on your sites.

We hope you had a great 2011! In the spirit of the holidays, the whole team has been reflecting on how grateful we are for all of our Weebly users and Weebly Pro customers. We have several new improvements we're getting ready to release soon, including our new themes that we've been feverishly working on finishing, so stay tuned!

You are simply amazing! Amazing!

Weebly does look likes it's gaining potential! :) If you just gave us a bit more customization for the pages (like Homestead/ Intuit does- different colored text at will, boxes-background elements, boarders...) I'd be sold, and would even pay extra!.

I'm not using Weebly yet, (I hope to soon :) but I'm sure as ya'll take time to do more of this,. . . you're company will really take off (and out-do your competition!) in 2012!!

12/15/2011 12:42am

Awesome awesome job weebly.Keep up the good work in the mean time focus on top most requested features.

01/10/2012 11:34am

thanks

12/15/2011 1:01am

Is it just me or these features were available already? We were not limited only 2 to columns, we can extend them from 2 to 4 or 5 or however many (that could fit our content/pictures) when we just added the multiple columns feature manually...hmm. Come on weebly, we want new designs! Let me upgrade to pro again, that's what I've been waiting for!

12/15/2011 1:02am

Thank you Weebly, Very much for this upgrade, we were tire of adding the "two- col" element into another, etc to make more columns... "Multiple Columns" is a great improve.

01/09/2012 7:16am

Weebly always greate. multiple col real help me. i use it at skin care website, it's profect.

03/07/2012 12:42pm

always cool.

Excellent! A multiple-column widget makes cumbersome embedding of two-column widgets unnecessary. Vertical alignment of content in the latter was nightmarish. Thanks!

03/07/2012 12:40pm

I know, did u like my website

12/15/2011 2:33am

So cool! This is what we wanted!

03/08/2012 11:57am

i know, have funnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnnn....................... luv ya

12/15/2011 2:34am

Nice update! Thanks Weebly!

12/15/2011 3:08am

Now, we have the freedom to divide and conquer the views of our websites. It's so great to have weebly on our side. We know many are still coming...with patience we know you wont forget our needs to have a wholesome and awesome website.

Thank you so much Weebly...we know you are doing what is best for all weebly lovers.

Good Luck.., more success to all the staffs and people behind weebly.

12/15/2011 3:20am

Cool WEEBLY exactly what I needed :) Can't wait for the new templates though!

12/15/2011 3:27am

Thank you! I did a dance when I stumbled on this yesterday!@

12/15/2011 4:02am

i deeply agree with Hang 12/15/2011

furthermore this feature is on even when i work on the other columns, and slow down creating a lot.
please make it switcable On/Off

slow & annoying (although I like Weebly a lot)

12/15/2011 4:11am

I have been waiting on this for a while! Awesome update! Keep up the good work!

12/15/2011 4:37am

Awesome new feature! Thank you Weebly!

Can't wait for the new templates though...please, please, please!

12/15/2011 4:55am

Its really very good upgrade of column feature. It saves around 99% of time compare manually adding columns in side the column features.
But don't wait us more regarding new themes release!
Kindly release the new themes before Christmas holiday.

12/15/2011 4:56am

This is great!
Weebly is making web creation easy!

12/15/2011 5:05am

This is a fabulous improvement -- thank you! Weebly is the best. (Now, if you would just add vertical lines between columns, borders around elements, and also background colors inside of elements, I would be ecstatic!)

Jason
12/15/2011 5:19am

While this is nice it is not a flash bag gee whiz improvement. I have been inserting multiple columns for a long time now by just inserting a column inside a column. I will use it and it is nice to have a few clicks less to complete this procedure.

12/15/2011 5:27am

Yay!!! I'm so glad you guys added this. I've been adding more double columns whenever I need more than 2, and this makes it so much easier.

12/15/2011 5:58am

I was looking forward to this feature so that I could get more than two columns automatically aligned with equal spacing, rather than having to do this by nesting two column elements and adjusting alignment manually. I'm glad you've provided it in what looks like a user friendly way, with options for spacing.

However it looks like there's a problem with it. I've just tested a three column layout but if I added centred text and kept typing it overlapped into the next column.

12/15/2011 6:42am

Really weebly? This could already be accomplished by nesting columns...

Where are the other items you've promised?

Why not work on something cool like a video slideshow player? It would be great to drop multiple videos into a bin, or embed codes and instantly have a video playlist...

Please work on some real features... and quite rolling out items that were already possible!

12/15/2011 6:44am

The idea is nice, although I already used multiple columns inserting a double column inside another. Anyway, when is weebly including the possibility to set up a newsletter? This would be a definitive improvement.

12/15/2011 7:43am

Legit!!

Now I don't have to put column inside of column inside of column! :)

Maybe next you can add column background capabilities?

And can't wait for new themes!

12/15/2011 7:59am

I was excited to see a new blog post but have to admit that this feature was a let down. Multiple columns were available in the past and don't exactly seem like a highlight.

Bottom line: We are waiting for the new themes (which have been promised for ages).

12/15/2011 8:33am

Leave Weebly alone!
They are making sure that the themes are working fine before they launch!

12/15/2011 9:11am

I like this. Good feature.
Thanks.

12/15/2011 10:07am

Man, Weebly is the real deal. You guys are doing an awesome job. Keep it up!!!

Cyril Davies
12/15/2011 10:21am

Great work as always Weebly, now I don't have to use column nesting to achieve the same results, nice one.

Christine
12/15/2011 10:33am

Nice addition, Weebly. Recently discovered you and have already upgraded to Pro. This is such a user-friendly tool. Great work! Whatever features you choose to implement in the future, please keep the interace simple! Don't go all "Facebook" on us and stray from the original simplicity.

12/22/2011 2:44pm

heyumm i am a kew blogger and i as wondering, how do i create a blog i create a blog i ended up making a website? reply as soon as possible thanks~

01/03/2012 9:20am

Britney,
Just a few things. Firstly, a blog is a website. But, since it is free, this is not a really big deal. You are able to add some really neat things with a website that you would not get with a simple blog. You can upload a relevant photo album, post links to other websites, and more.
Secondly, if you are going to be blogging, even as an amature, readers appreciate the use of spellcheck. I'm not being rude; I only mean to help you. I'm not perfect either.

Good luck with your blog! ~B. Ott

12/15/2011 10:33am

YAY! Thank you very much weebly, you have been very kind.

Maybe we can get some new themes for Christmas! :)

You have made it so easy to make an awesome website really fast, and super fun!

Anyhow, thanks weebly! It's been a pleasure working with you!

Chris
12/15/2011 11:17am

Thanks! Now I don't have to embed the double column to get the same effect. I always love time saving features!

12/15/2011 11:54am

This great! Thank you very much.

12/15/2011 12:08pm

Thanks again Weebly! I just checked out the new feature and I think it's great. I'm very happy with the customizable spacing between the columns. That one was really needed.

@Europa451
Why not use a service like Mailchimp or Aweber? They offer custom code for signup forms to integrate in your website. (I'm adding that soon).

12/15/2011 12:29pm

WOW, a much anticipated update!

Definately one of the updates i have been waiting a while for...

Many thanks Weebly!

12/15/2011 12:37pm

12/15/2011 3:35pm

Great addition!!!

Chris
12/15/2011 4:40pm

Is there any way to have to option to add colored boundary lines between the columns so there isn't just a floating space?

I love you Weebly :)

Please more features soon!

Merry Christmas!

12/15/2011 6:38pm

Thanks Weebly!

Now if only you gave the option for the columns to also include Vertical Dividers, that would have made it even better.

Please release the new themes, thats what we are all REALLY waiting for!

12/15/2011 9:16pm

yes vertical dividers would be AWESOME- more professional. Love the multiple columns, although i must admit that i was already doing it myself.
what I need now is a way for people to get emails every time there is a new post or comment.
now THAT would be awesome.
thanx weebly for ure hard work!

12/15/2011 9:31pm

Nice! Every feature is always helpful! I know weebly is going through some transformations so any news that your progressing is always nice to see. Looking forward to android app, and maybbeee javascript support!

Hey I have you all on auto bill pay and have stopped using you all I went to Wix.com and Moonfruit.com and I came back to see what I could do with weebly. You know you all are amazing - the websites load on phones - you have a form that works on the site you let me upload many types of video files. Wix is beautiful but doesn't function for real web use. Moonfruit is really cool because they offer you a members area level not just a password protected page what sucks with them is that you can't upload any video file only flv and guess what they don't always play on a phone. Any way I say all of this because I am glad that you all are always growing and left out the glitter - cute websites don't function they take for ever to load. I just realized that you all are the best website folks on the net. I even made a training video to teach people how easy it is to use your service to build there own website that is up in minutes and works plus looks good. Thank you for your service - I must say I am sorry I stopped using you guys but I am happy that you kept me on as a customer you guys are fabulous and thanks a ton for making things simple and that you just keep adding on . :-)

12/16/2011 12:18am

Good!! I like this feature. Thx :)

12/16/2011 12:19am

Didn't realize what was going on at first. Awesome update. Keep em Coming. When will we be able to add Member pages with specific logins?

12/16/2011 2:11am

Been waiting for that for so long
thank you guys

12/16/2011 2:44am

This is really a killer update. We requested you 3 column feature but surprise us by introducing up to 5 columnS. Most important update is multiple column inside the blog. Boooom! Love you Weebly! :)
I hope you will give more blog options.

12/16/2011 3:28am

Love this new feature, and just in time for my next steps. Thank's for a brilliant service and your common sense!

12/16/2011 5:46am

Another Weebly Win! Merry Christmas and thanks for all you guys do!

Weebly, the Multiple Columns is awesome but it makes the uppers and lower spacing more wider. I've tried it also in blogs were before there is no option it great thing that you added this and one thing hope the most requested updates will be address.

12/16/2011 10:17am

Thank you!! Very nice update dear Weebly team. More features in the New Year. We want vertical color lines and more slideshows.
We wish you a Merry Christmass!

12/16/2011 12:01pm

(Weebly) Simply the BEST

12/16/2011 12:21pm

I love that you guys won't stop improving!
I'm happy with my decision to build my business based on your infrastructure.

Thank you guys! Happy holidays!

12/16/2011 12:27pm

...one more thing. Please keep the great improvements coming as I depend on you guys ;)

12/16/2011 1:23pm

Yes, Weebly was a lucky find for me, too. Now with more columns, here's a connected plea: smaller audio players please!
I'm a voice actor, so I need to squeeze in lots of demo. Happy Holiday!

12/16/2011 1:25pm

Thanks we needed that!

12/16/2011 2:48pm

A great new opportunity from Weebly. Keep up the great work!

12/16/2011 3:47pm

Thank you weebly, for your generous gift.

Off topic: Anybody who ever thought about having their own country and having a soccer team for that country visit www.vmsb.webs.com(for soccer team), and www.microwiki.org.uk(for country), you don't need to have a country on microwiki to sign up for the VMSB so sign up first! Many thanks again, to the readers and weebly.

12/16/2011 4:38pm

Little changes and upgrades like this are what will make us all life long customers and give us a better our overall Weebly experience. Thank You. Looking forward to a very big 2012...Go Pro!

12/16/2011 6:08pm

Have you considered offering vertical divider lines now that you've added the multiple columns? Currently only horizontal lines are available and I think this added feature would really be used to help with visual layout. Thanks for ALWAYS listening! :)

12/16/2011 7:21pm

Keep it up - we know it gets tiring [we are all in this together]. When you improve weebly....we all look better too!

"WEE BLieve in You!"

Go team Go!!!! Big 2012!

12/16/2011 10:12pm

As a blogger using lots of photos, I can't tell you how delighted I was to discover the multiple columns available on the blog!! Thank you, thank you. I can do so much more...

12/21/2011 5:55pm

Thanks for the great feedback, Brenda!

12/16/2011 10:29pm

I agree with Warren, constructive criticism is good, but you need to be more appreciative. Good business people understand that if you release something before it is completely finished, then there is almost no point in releasing it at all. They know that everyone want's the templates yesterday, but they also know that you will be more angry if you get them and they don't even work. Look at Amazon with the Kindle Fire, they are getting heat from so many apps not working because the company tried to push it out in time for the holidays before the device was completely ready.

Be patient, the updates will come and they will be great like always, because that is what Weebly does and that is why we are all users and Pro users.

12/16/2011 11:15pm

I like the constant tweaking of the existing tools, it makes me feel like the developers are actually using the service and becoming as annoyed by the issues as users are. That being said, wake me up in 2012 I WANT THEMES!

12/17/2011 1:57am

Awesome job on the added columns. will make it alot less work for me.

I would like to see a spacer to put in-between items. in other words, not just a divider..but space in-between items. i try to use the columns to do it and sometimes it helps and sometimes it doesnt. Also would love to see the added content load a little faster. its pretty slow. (ex: adding in an HTML)

Thank you though for an easy website to create for a newbie. Wished they were all this easy.

12/17/2011 6:42am

Weebly, you're THE BEST!!

Thank you!

kaung
12/17/2011 7:49am

effing useful!!!!!!!!
I love you, weebly.

one more suggestion - "borders"
I just want to put some borders around the paragraphs and text that I wrote so that they won't feel naked.

12/17/2011 10:21am

Awesome. Excellent feature.

Can't wait for the new THEMES.

Merry Christmas :)

12/17/2011 12:33pm

Amazing weebly team ! You're the best :) Hello from Algeria :)

12/17/2011 12:44pm

Thanks guys. We really appreciate the hard work you all are doing to improve our website building experience. Merry Christmas and may God Bless.

12/17/2011 2:14pm

This is good. Some folks are right that you can use the old TWO COLUMN option to create additional columns, but then there is a SLIGHT mis-align between the content of those columns. And when you're going for a professional look, that makes a difference. I'm glad you did this, and that you created the option for various spaces between them. (Also something I wanted.) I'd like to see, however, an option for a vertical line between them -- something that APPEARS to be a feature in the new themes??? (Based on sample screen shots from August 4.)

12/17/2011 2:27pm

This a great step forward. Please keep adding options. One more we are looking forward to get is creating visible columns.

12/17/2011 2:58pm

these updates are not that necessary but it would be great if the background color could be different in different areas. As suggested by:

kaye

04/04/2012 11:05pm

YESS!!!!!!!!! This has STOPPED me from signing up and doing any-thing with Weebly. If you just gave us a bit more customization for the pages (like homestead does- different colored text at will, boxes-background elements, boarders...) I'd be sold.

Honestly you've done some great work with the templates, but you can tell if one is looking at a weebly site, if stumbled upon from the net. The pages with a site builders 'info', just look a little cheap. Just columns with the uni-colored colored text.

If you could just catch up a bit to homestead in 2012...Weebly would take off!!!

12/18/2011 2:07am

I love the web site but could you make something so if you click something
It has things like delite ,crop and other thins thanks weebly

12/18/2011 2:49am

this is good and amazing additional features.

12/18/2011 7:12am

Upgrades are always appreciated, but the newest doesn't seem to do as implied - what you see is what you get. Once I hit publish, my spacings appear wrong on the published version, especially two spaces after punctuation. I constantly have to go back and eliminated spaces so that my text lines up correctly. Any fixes for that other than eliminating the double space after punctuation?

12/18/2011 11:46am

Thx and good job, you made our webmaster lives a bit easier with these implementations (at least mine definetly). Looking forward to see new upcoming additions...keep up the good work!

12/18/2011 3:12pm

The multi-column feature is something I suggested many months ago, so great to see it at last. A much neater solution than doubling-up on the doubling-up!

But we need verticle rules of various weights and colours to go with this...

12/18/2011 11:12pm

this is so useful. I can make my site look better.. thank you so much weebly..:)

Joe
12/19/2011 5:17am

Oh please bring out some real features we need and stop faking like this new ideas and options are new or even make a difference. I have been designing at weebly for about a year, and they come through on promises when they get around to it, and the things they promises don't ever come true it seems... so where are the new themes? And when are they coming out? I mean, I make my own new themes for weebly because my Pro memebership would run out if I waited for them to come through on their word and produce some REAL NEW OPTIONS AND NOT SOME BULLSHIT!

12/19/2011 6:33am

great job
now we require something like flash intro's as well.

chanel and benetton sites are great, get some of the stuff that they have on their home page.

home pages which can all be designed on their own would also be welcome.

12/19/2011 6:42am

Hi Weebsters... thanks for another great feature... can't wait for 2012 and what you guys and gals come up with!

Andy
12/19/2011 8:17am

Coolers!

12/19/2011 10:14am

Ya, thank-you Weebly!! These are the kind of updates I've been waiting for! I can't wait to improve my site now!

12/19/2011 11:54am

Thanks for the columns Weebly. This timesaver makes for happy weeblers Don't be a dweeb make the switch to Weebly! Honestly Weebly ..you should pay me for that line!

12/19/2011 4:05pm

Hi folks, I just wanted to give you a small tip I use until our dear weebly developers implement this feature...

For SEO purposes the weebly platform doesn't allow you to have H1 tags by default, but you can add them manualy by using the custom html item and typing in
<h1>your title</h1>

Where "your title" stands for the title you want to use for the H1 title .

...and you're welcome

12/19/2011 4:08pm

Your site builder is truly excellent, it has many features and it works well. However from my point of view it lacks one important thing: you cannot make side columns. Side columns are very useful to insert elements such as: number of visitors, signing up for newsletter, advertisement, other various secondary elements.
I would really appreciate if you could solve this problem sometime in the nearest future.
Yours,
Christian B.,
Montreal, Canada

12/19/2011 5:17pm

Another great feature! I hope to see the iPhone app coming out soon.

Jward
12/19/2011 6:04pm

Great feature! Weebly is best place for non html coders that want to build websites. There are some basic features that are sorely missing. Why can't I add a table to weebly sites? Why can't I have file management page to keep files organized in folders? Why can designers like Div Templates make slide shows for but weebly, I can;t get an animated gifs to work on the header or within the page correctly. These add-ons are long over due.

12/19/2011 8:19pm

Awesome service! Thank you! Really simple and smart!

12/20/2011 7:00am

Thank you so much for adding this feature! Makes it alot easier than adding 2, then 2 more, and so on.

Can't wait for more features :)

12/20/2011 7:38am

I really like how Weebly listens to user needs and requests. By constantly adding or improving features like this, there is really now reason to hire over-priced web designers. A knucklehead like me can have an effective site on a budget!

12/20/2011 8:07am

Yes! This is such a great addition. Thank you, Weebly!

12/20/2011 10:29am

Fantastic new feature, thanks for all your hard work as always!

Jodi
12/20/2011 1:39pm

Thank you! Yes, we could make multiple columns by "nesting" the double column element before, but it was cumbersome and difficult to make the columns appear in the exact same place from page to page if you wanted to do a multi column design on more than one page. I also found it more useful than the photogallery strip for making a navigation bar at the bottom of my pages using clickable icons rather than just text links. The spacing in columns that are not nested is much preferred! Thank you!

J
12/20/2011 6:03pm

Keep up the good work! Just went Pro today! Would be great if we could move and resize template elements.

12/20/2011 6:59pm

your multiple column element is great,it's a nice addition to the toolbox.

12/21/2011 12:28am

Thanks Weebly. The columns are a Timesaver for busy Weeblers!

12/21/2011 3:54am

Great Job with this multiple column.
Another usefull thing would be a vertical divider bar. It would be a great way to keep our sites tidy. Thank you

12/21/2011 5:21am

This is the one I need!!! Thank you Weebly!!! Awesome!!!

I love this feature! It would have saved me so much time had it been release a few weeks ago, but there is no use crying over spilled milk. This will definitely be a huge time saver in the future. I don;t know if anyone has mentioned this, but I would love to be able to add links to the header!

12/21/2011 5:12pm

Oh! Really you guys shown it again. The new comment box updates are really awesome! This the the feature what I am looking actually. Thank you so much!

12/22/2011 10:09am

You guys are the best! Now build my websites on your platform, easier than WordPress. So happy I stumbled upon Weebly, ----a wordpress convert.

12/22/2011 3:06pm

The only thing I do not like about this is that I used to be able to have an image span the entire page and inlay another column on top and manipulate it so that the text would overlap the image. I am no longer able to do that, and very upset about that.

12/22/2011 7:46pm

Definitely makes it easier than constantly throwing two columns inside another two columns.

The upgrade to multiple columns is great. However, it has created a bug. You can no long create a bulleted list, ordered or unordered, when in columns other than the first column or outside all columns. The quick work around is to create the list outside of the affect columns and then drag it to the column you wish it to be in.

I work in Weebly daily and love it. It is one of the best website build tools I've used. Keep up the good work. Thanks

This feature is a touch easier than embedding columns within columns. Thanks. Now, I'd like to create a 3-column blog page. Unless I'm missing something, you can only have one sidebar on a blog page and the width of the columns can't be adjusted. I can insert multiple columns elements in the sidebar, which are very skinny, but not the whole page. I was really hoping when I saw the update that the blog pages would now be as flexible as the other pages.

This is AWESOME! Hopefully, pages with multiple columns will load more quickly now. I noticed that with the old two-column limitation, the more double columns I nested the slower that particular page would load. Thanks for the upgrade, Weebly!

Great addition. The new columns make designing my pages a lot easier. I really like it. What about horizontal divisions whithin the columns as well. Just saying. You guys are great at allowing us to do a great deal with design. I know little code, but with the little I know I have been able to design some awesome site. Keep adding more. Thanks

Great with the 5-column feature, but will you please increase it to a 6-column. Then it would be even much more flexible.

All the best!
