Introducing Logos & More

We're happy to release a couple of our top requested features, and the first of many improvements to come for themes: you can now upload a logo in place of the text-based site title you have now. 

Once uploaded, the logo can be edited with ImagePerfect to adjust its position, size, rotation, and to apply other effects. Even better, you can use ImagePerfect to add a fancy tagline from our selection of 60+ fonts. 

To get started, hover your mouse over the site title area and you'll see the button to switch to a logo. Don't have a logo? Our friends at 99designs gave us links to provide $10 off a logo from their store or $20 off a logo contest.

Check out a few examples of the new logo feature in action:
Another change you'll notice is that your site title or logo links back to the homepage of your website. This was a top feature request and an important usability improvement -- most visitors expect it.

Improvements to photos

In addition to the above, we've made two slight tweaks to photos. Now, when you upload a photo, it will automatically size to the full width of the column it's placed in. In most situations, this is the size you want, but you're still free to resize the image however you'd like.
Picture
The second change to photos is with how they are linked to the larger version. You'll now see a "Link to full-sized image" button and, when enabled, the larger image will open in a lightbox when the smaller one is clicked on.

What's next?

As you know, we're working on a series of improvements to our theming engine to allow multiple page types, flexible footer areas, search, social media buttons, and much more. In today's release, we've added logo support and will continue to release these additional theming improvements as fast as possible.

Our San Francisco-based team has been burning the midnight oil, continuing to improve Weebly and make it better for you every day. But long days at work aren't bad -- we're excited and energized by the amazing sites you're building.

The logo feature is a specially useful thing. For long, I've been hoping for one so as to give character, recognition and "visual identity" to the sites I create in Weebly. Good to see that it's been finally implemented.

Hi guys,

Simply can't understand the negative comments you sometimes get - especially the ones stating they are 'not impressed at all'. I think, along with alot of other people, that Weebly is incredible. I hunted around for literally years trying to find different hosts and web builders. I tried Wix, 123, 121 - loads of them and not one has managed to rank anywhere near Weebly. Keep going with the updates - most of us understand these things don't happen overnight, but when they come, they're great! Thanks guys, really appreciate your hard work.

Well would have helped if you emailed us about it forst instead it just popped up while editing and ruined the current header. It gave no indication of what it was or how to use it. If i hadn't discovered the blog tonight I would still be none-the-wiser.

That grumble said, it's a very good addition as we can now add a professional looking header if we can find/create one.

Everything is epic. I have been going into the CSS, uploading pictures, and customizing it to make the logos on top of my pages. I'm stoked you guys hooked us up with an easier way to do it all.


I just really hope the new themes come soon... And I hope it's more than like 4 theme. :( That would BLOW.

The new photo functionality, as of right now, is very buggy. I can usually add and edit a photo in a couple of minutes. Tonight, I actually just gave up. Sometimes the edit button pops up, sometimes it doesn't. If I crop, the drag handles usually aren't there any more after I save. Other issues as well. Very frustrating evening.

Love the new logo feature! When I click on my logo and then edit, I have the option to add text alongside the logo, but 'Example Text' shows up and I am unable to edit those words. Is this a bug? I have discovered if I highlight 'Example Text' I am able to paste something in from my clipboard. Thanks for all of your hard work to help us make better and better websites!

I've just discovered that I am no longer able to upload a PDF, and have it open in a separate window.

I prefer that when people open a PDF doc from my site that it does not take them away from the web page they're on. PLEASE please restore that capability!

This is a step in the right direction, it seems easier than a mucking around in the custom CSS which doesn't move from one theme to another... which I presume this logo does. BUT.... is there a way to centre it on the page... just left aligned or visually aligned isn't that great, and also, if I resize it too big, it overlaps my nav bar... can the theme resize the place it sits so as to not overlap?

Hi guys. I'm super bummed with these blog changes. My beautiful photos are now WAY too small and I can't move the side bar over to allow for bigger photos. Videos are cut off on the R side and the photos look TERRIBLE. Meanwhile, the blog sidebar has all of this dead, unused space to the right. Not a happy camper.

After "A Summer Focused on Design"... this is what we get? 'We can now add a logo'. While that is NICE it gives me concern that's all you can release after 60+ days of waiting....

Weebly, you have a great product, but you've got to move at the speed of business. Outsource some of this work and get where you need to be ASAP. I promise you you'll see a huge uptick in sales and your investors will reward you by throwing more cash at you.

OK...I don't get the logo thing either. Cannot get it to work. Please post an update to the blog with better instructions of how to get it to work. LOGO FIX - For those who are not seeing it. Weebly really should have mentioned this to cut down on support inquiries.

Your custom themes were not included in the html update, only the fresh themes were so if you made the slightest change in a theme and saved it as a custom theme, you will need to make this easy fix:

Click Design / Click Edit CSS|HTML drop down. Click index.html or current page type on the left.

REPLACE

<div class="title">{title}</div>

WITH

<div class="title">{logo max-height="76"}</div>

Then adjust the height if you need to make the logo fit.

Weebly... nice job with the additions. For all of you who are grumbling about the time it is taking for new designs, realize that when they are released, they'll be fantastic. Software design is not like making a sandwich... sometimes designers hit roadblocks that were not anticipated, or a decision is made in the design process to make the planned release even stronger, adding to the timeline. The Weebly team is well aware of the pressure to release, but I am sure they will do so when things are just about perfect. Thanks Weebly for a wonderful product.

Thanks. Would really like to be able to have the header image have the capability to be linked to a particular page, like my home page. Most other other blogs and sites have this capability, and visitors expect it.

I'm really enjoying the ease of using this program. A few suggestions: for html editing as a beginner I would like to see a more user friendly way of editing this.

Also for the nav. links I would like some more personalization features to it such as styling.

Also for a home page I would really enjoy a way to integrate a language choice/adjusting feature that brings me into the main area with that chosen language. All while keeping the nav links hidden until the main page.

I think this logo improvement is a killer. But it would have even been better if there was the possibility to upload the image and shape it into the space as convenient. Anyways, Weebly still rocks as always cheers guys.

I love weebly and have had an account for 3 years. However, at the point of wanting to set up a new website, I really prefer the old themes that were beautiful, inspiring and delicious. Weebly, the new ones are mostly drag, cheap, boring, uninspiring and ugly. What has happened?

Thanks a ton for adding this feature.

Previously when i used weebly there was a contradiction in the settings page "Show site title on the top of your pages." If i tick mark this option the same title is being shown as the page title for every page. Now i am no longer facing this difficulty.

I request you to add seperate passwords for different webpages...need very badly please help...

If you're having trouble, chances are you modified your design template at some point. To see the logo option follow these steps:

1. Click on the design tab at the top of your Weebly Editor.
2. On the upper right of your screen click on Edit HTML/CSS>
3. In the left browser window make sure you've selected the index.html page.
4. In the editor window, scroll down until you see the following text:
<div id="headertext">
<h1>{title}</h1>
</div><!-- end id:header -->

replace the work {title} with the word {logo} like so:

<div id="headertext">
<h1>{logo}</h1>
</div><!-- end id:header -->

Save! And you should be good to go. :)

Please enable post scheduling for automatic publishing in future that doesn't require blogger/webmaster to physically be logged in to click the "publish" button. Some of us don't have access to computer all the time but would like to have sites active by having post auto-publish at a set date and time (it's a standard feature available in wordpress and blogger).

Well, that´s great, but the logo option clearly seems to not being working on customs themes. It would be great if i could use it in my own great theme.

It's great to see that at last we can display the title of a track for audio uploads - nice one Weebly, that's a massive improvement for everyone who includes music tracks on their site - thanks!! But . . . it doesn't seem possible to add a title to the audio tracks already on our site . . . will this be made compatible or do we have to upload them all again in order to be able to access this feature?

I have built 6 or 7 sites using your tools, and you guys continue to set the bar. I actually paid for the upgrade at KC Watersports, just because we can afford it there, and you guys deserve it. I have used it for my hobby wakesurfing school www.surfthirty.com, and for a friend's oil business kernres.weebly.com. I helped a fried put up a page for his consulting business at technologyrescue.weebly.com. I used it for a few friends to set up personal pages, and I will probably help a dozen more friends start weebly pages over the next year. The new features you introduce continue to make weebly a joy to work with, and make it clear that I never want to own software ever again...

Always glad to see Weebly improving. I was wondering where you stood against wordpress but I read a post from another Weebly user who said he was gradually switching over to Weebly. More improvements and great features may put weebly at the head of the class.

The use of simplifed tools is really getting competitive now especuially getting with the current changing Business & social communication systems.
The new trend of Google in providing users updated content , makes me beleive that WEEBLY is on the right line of doing it can to its users moving forward too; Thanks alot Weebly!

Just a note in response to Zeljko's post - (I haven't tried this myself but think it would work) - you may be able to get the effect of a vertical divider by uploading a simple long vertical line as an image (that also allows you to choose the colour/thickness/style of the line), if you put the image within a two-column layout which is inside another two-column layout - you can drag the boundaries of the columns to achieve the width you want, make one virually disappear which will give you three columns, set the Advanced attributes of the line picture so it has "none" as the margins and I think that would give you pretty much the look of a standard line divider. Drag the boundaries of your picture to get it to the desired length. Worth a try anyway :)
