Professional Photography Now Available

One of the hardest parts of building a website is finding good pictures and photos. To help, we recently released the ability to purchase professional, royalty-free photos right from the image selector. When you search for an image, Weebly will now show you results from professional photographers, in addition to free Creative Commons images from Flickr.

What's the difference between the two? Professional photos cost $5 each, and you are free to use them throughout your site. Free photos require attribution (that little message placed at the bottom of your site) and are generally lower-quality.

Once you find an image you like, you can now also add free and professional images to your Favorites for easy reference.

We're constantly at work improving Weebly for you, to keep making it easier to build a great looking, professional website. We have several large updates in the pipeline that we will be releasing soon. In the meantime, we love to hear your feedback -- be sure to vote on what features you'd like us to tackle next!

This seems like a great new feature! Although I may not use it much, this will come in handy for those who aren't familiar with purchasing stock photos.

I really like the new HTML/CSS editor! It will really save time by having the files, code and preview showing at once.

Weebly needs a professional photography feature for their site. Most of the sites I see have mostly pictures and images in them. (What kind of site is that?) Well it draw in some more webmasters and photographers too! For me it is a great edition to the Weebly family. Because Weebly is the best! This is very useful - I run Weebly classes in the UK and one of the hardest parts of building a good website is choosing the right pictures. Also - the new html/css editor is great, especially being able to see real-time previews of changes to the code. Thank you Weebly!

Very odd that after 2 months of no updates, this is what is introduced. What happened to the membership management stuff you promised in a comment in a post several months ago? What happened to all the things on the previous vote page (including passwords for different pages and membership accounts at the top of the list). Hmmm....smells fishy captain.

We all appreciate the hard work of the Weebly team...but I think some new features (that can be used without more money) are probably in order. Looking forward to the big updates you talked about above.

After a long gap here comes the update but I am not surprised. I have thought much waiting will give more surprises. I am pro member and I don't see much difference between having pro-membership and normal user.
I haven't updated my site since 2 months in hope that weebly will introduce new templates (as voted most in poll) but got just image upload in new style.
I am not disappointed with weebly.com but I am not happy either.

Hope to have more features here.

Great, but when will the cool updates get released?

Can anyone tell me how to incorporate a blog (not a weebly blog) into a weebly site. My client needs to blog via an ipad /iphone and weebly cant do that yet.

How do i put a 3rd party blog into a weebly site and make it look good. Not using iframe if possible

Sorry . . . what? There are so many features with hundreds or even thousands of Weebly users crying out for them, why would something like this, readily available elsewhere, be a priority?

Surely most Weebly website builders prefer to use pictures which actually represent their OWN business/interests, etc, rather than generic images? I know we do!

What about the need to be able to revert to a previous version of the site? A table element? A site search box? Flash headers? I must admit that, for the first time in the two years or so we've been with Weebly, I'm disappointed :(

Some of you noticed that in addition to the stock image features, we also released a complete overhaul to the HTML/CSS theme editor. We're glad you like it!

Believe me, your #1 feature request is not going unnoticed :-) As always, we appreciate your support, and in addition, your patience as large scale improvements like what we're working on take a bit of time to develop.

any update is a good update... it shows things are moving behind the scenes. the photos arent something i will use, but they are fine for someone starting out and wanting to learn without having to either take their own photos or hunt down others online.

I'm just curious, where do you get those royalty-free photos? My site is currently a photography site and blog (although I'm planning to do or add some software dev services). I have very high expectations from you and hence disappointed to see this update after having waited for more than a month since your last update....there are more pressing improvements required than making commissions by selling images.

Have to say, for a company that produces blogging software you sure don't blog a lot. Don't get me wrong, I love Weebly, but I'd like to see some more blog postings, roadmap info etc on a regular basis (once a week at a minimum).

Weebly is doing awesome job. On top of that it didnt stop branding on pro users site. Login or sign up button in the blog comment linked it to sign up page of weebly.This doesn't make sense. Because of this I disabled the comments in my blog. Interesting thing here is anybody can comments without signing in or signing up. There are lot other I havent listed here.

Nice to have some improvemnts guys but the number one request before you brought the new suggestions system in was for a membership system and that now appears down the list. This would really put Weebly back on top of the competition and I know you have said its coming - but when?

I'm glad you guys are wasting your development time on stuff that isn't necessary and has little customer added value. Who gives damn about pictures that cost money - your obvious motivator is to make more money and not improve the functionality of your site and tools. OK, so wow, you changed the HTML/CSS viewer - who cares since it's dumbed down so much that it's nearly useless.

Do us all a favor (especially your Pro users that have given you our money) and start developing stuff that is worth while. Not sure where to start? How about you check out your feature request voting page and focus on the Top 5 (http://www.weebly.com/weebly/feature_request.php). I can almost guarantee you this latest picture thing was not even on the Top 10 list.

I've said my piece; hopefully we can get some real features that add customer value, not value to your pockets.

I am 100% agree with SilverBullet. If Weebly does not go through the prioritized voted features, what is point to case vote for that?

As a pro user, I strongly wish the requested features available in the board. Weebly guys are really cool but they are very very sluggish to provide useful features.

I guess Weebly does need some new features because there are a lot of competition in the website-buider business. A new feature that would wow the Weebly users. Some features might include side bar element and we hope you been focusing on the features request voting page and add the things we asked for Weebly to provide some more useful features. :)

We actually don't make a lot of money from selling these images -- we introduced the feature to help people find better photography options. We need to charge money so the professional photographers can be compensated for their work (if we didn't have to pay for them, we wouldn't ask you to, either).

As I mentioned in the post, the reason this blog has been quiet is that we have been working very hard on the top requested features -- because these are fairly major changes, it has taken a bit longer to see them through, but we are close to releasing them.

In the meantime, we thought it would be nice to post an update on some of the smaller stuff we have been working on.

Hang in there! Your requests are not being ignored. To the contrary, we have been working non-stop on them, and are getting ready to release them soon :)

Thats what we were expecting, i mean a STRAIGHT answer from CEO, crystal clear, though we like it or not, now investors (pro users, though i m not yet, because i m expecting many essential changes), can decide what to do, as i said i want to be a pro user, but not until the first 10 requests are fulfilled. One mostly needed is SQUARE COMMENT BOXES AND ROUNDED BUTTONS (WITH COLOR INSIDE) we can copy/paste into the site and some mouse "hover effects" so people see the content of a link without needing to load the page (that would look sooo professional). Sorry for my english.

David, I believe by what the team has already achieved that there can be great things anticipated from you, you are prone to the foibles & expectations of both investors, consumers & weebly pro membership users.
My gut instinct was (& is) to give it 6 months / 1 yr of subscription on pro, mainly because this is the first site I have been able to make something of compared to other allegedly "easy sites" ..so I have no doubt you are looking from many perspectives, which will inevitably slow releases of updates & extras in an effort to continue to make them foolproof to all & sundry.
As soon as there is a decent shopping option i'm sure there will be a flood of incomers utilising & paying subscription.
As it is the simplicity of weebly has enabled me to get a friends business finally into the 21st century, & I expect more of the same as the word spreads (when he see's & is happy with his basic presence) this will mean I am able to promote weebly more heavily (believe me I appreciate what you have enabled me to do in this recession).
If you ca sort out some decent shop frontage & check-out then I for one am happy to have some bigger advertising for you guys alongside my stock, even an individual recommendation for anyone who is interested & wishes to launch into weebly..
I'm looking forward to Autumn & presumably a working release of "something good" ...just don't forget those of us who are hanging around for e-commerce.
In the meantime the recession is biting & we need to sell, sell sell, i'd prefer it were via yourselves than the soul sucking ebay & amazon, & maintain my own element of control.
Keep it up, ..and "amaze us"

Please note that the membership system has already been out for MONTHS on the Weebly Education Version website. This begs the question:

"If you're already selling this service on the Weebly education site....why has it not been implemented on the Pro User accounts on the regular Weebly side of things????". Riddle me that Batman...
