Updated Pages Interface and Slideshow Image Links

We just released a couple new features: a refreshed Pages tab and the ability to link images in a slide show.

The old Pages tab could become unwieldy with a large amount of pages, and it was a bit cluttered and unfriendly. With the new Pages interface we've just released, it's a lot easier to manage a long list of pages, quickly see which pages are hidden or password protected, and set a link to an external site.

Another highly requested feature is making its debut today: the ability to link images in a slideshow. A slideshow can be a perfect introduction to your site, showcasing the various sections in an appealing graphical format. You can now create links for each of the images, so that visitors can click them and be directed to that particular area.

We're working on a few really big features for Weebly, but until those are ready to be released, we wanted to tackle a couple common, simple requests. And even though we only blog about larger features, we're fixing bugs and tweaking things every day.

As always, we're deeply appreciative that you've chosen Weebly to create your website -- especially those of you who have upgraded to Pro or purchased a domain name. We're working hard day in and day out to make Weebly an incredibly easy, fun and powerful way for you to get online.

how can i make the area around the pic smaller, to fit the image, which size i have
to upload the picture so there are no white gaps around the pic?

Love the new page manager. It's makes my one website (that currently has about 150 pages) so much easier to manage!

And thank you so much for adding links to images in the slideshow! This was one of my top feature requests actually. It makes it nice to make a professional looking "content slider" on the home page.

The new feature are good,It make a slightly good look while editing,And off course Link attatchement with slid show was quite necessary which is now available.
I suggest you that please give us the options like;
1-We can edit in header size and can insert HTML in header.
2-We must have complete control on Blog i.e it should not be redirect to weebly home page in any case.
3-We can download all our backup.
4-User can sign-in under us.
5-More easy widget of social services with lots of variety.

Not to be rude, but you can edit header size and insert HTML in the header easily using the edit HTML/CSS option, but if you don't have any knowledge of coding I understand.

You can download a full backup of your website by using Back-up/Unpublish Site feature on the Settings tab in your editor.

You can get social sharing tools easily from a site like AddThis or ShareThis.

Just sayin'. Thought I'd let you know about tools that exist for what you want.

I do think that it would be nice to have custom 404 error pages though, for when a visitor types in a wrong extension on our domain.

Great that you are always updating things. This is such an easy interface, its really great. BTW, you can create custom 404 redirect pages. Just create a new hidden page named 404 and put what ever you want in it with the normal page building tools.

Re verified Website Trust Seals - if you save a page as '404' it acts as a custom 404 'page not found' page.

Thanks for the improvement to the Pages tab, especially handling long list of pages, as that was becoming tricky on www.cheltenhamsouthtown.org

I love the new pages management tool. This gives greater control over all the many pages needed for a church/organization site.

I hope remote/mobile blogging features are coming. That would be great. Your blogging tool is good and I use it a lot.

This is what I mean...WEEBLY is the best. In fact, even before WEEBLY announces in pubic new features it offers to its users, some of the features have been there being enjoyed by us. You just need to trust our WEEBLY friends... for sure many and more are coming. Trust me they are the best.

Hi! As usual, Weebly gets greater and greater, thanks. Can I add some suggestions?

1) the external link from Pages leaves your website, and I would like to be able to choose a pop up window or leaving the web as it's now. Both options!

2) The private pages could become something extremely powerful, but now it's only a single password protected page. Would be really great to be able to setup password protected areas but with several passwords, one per user, I mean personal passwords ... for subscription services

2) And a box for email subscription would be great, thought I don't know if its possible to include a service like already exist like is friendfeed or so ... anyone knows if it's possible and how to?

Cause right now even if I choose "none" on the advanced settings there's till a lot of white space around the slideshow =/

I am enjoying building my site and am less and less frustrated as time goes on. That is, in part, because I have a teenager who explains things that you guys take for granted and yet that someone like me, just doesn't know. So, 2 questions:

- can you consider a "forum" so that maybe your more skilled users can answer questions for one another without tying up your resources?

-when my blog post is sent to FB, and I click on it on FB, it takes me to my Weebly HOME page, not the actual blog post. Anyway around that?

Thanks for the changes. One suggestion: On the slide show, if you write a comment on a photo, it is placed over the photo. This makes the viewing of it kind of difficult sometimes. Could you be able to have a comment outside the image area?

For all of you asking for a hit counter, not to be offensive, but that's just silly.

Why would Weebly spend time and resources to develop a hit counter when there are many good third party options out there that already have all the good features?

Google Analytics is the best, but if that's a bit too complicated for you, use StatCounter.

They both provide the best features, and StatCounter also offers visible hit counters. (If you want to use it more for visual hit counting than actual tracking)

thanks for the updates. Now here is a wish list 1.) a Wiki system 2.) the ability to create a page and add a rate (5 star) and/or comment module. This would be used for rating the content of the page (local business profile) 3.) mobile posting on blog(s) by email or txt msg 4.) a directory that could be used as a link directory/classified ads.
5.) forums. I know that is a pretty tall list, but as i said it is a wish list. I am torn between staying here or going elsewhere . I really hope something big comes soon.

I started my blog today. I noticed its on the website and has the same address. Is this normal or did I miss a step somewhere? Please tell me asap. Because I was under the impression that I would get a different web address for my blog? So when I tell folks to visit my blog, I just tell them the same address as my site? There is nothing wrong with that if thats the case, I just want to make sure I did not miss a step or did not do something I was supposed to do,

Does mass slide editing possible? For example I like to point links from every image to a single page (photographer's bio). Should I change a link for every picture manually, or do you have an option for mass edit?

Love the 'pages interface' update. Works much nicer. REQUEST: When linking word(s) to a page within our website, would like to see the site pages listed ALPHABETICALLY! Or at the very least, in the organizational order they are listed on the 'page interface'. Currently, making word(s) links to our website pages within our website(with the number of pages we have)is very tedious and cumbersome!!!

Thank you Weebly-meisters for the hyperlink functionality on the slideshow images, that will undoubtedly be a huge hit. Thanks also to Gboston for your post with the great tip on building custom 404 error pages. Having tried out most of Weebly's "DIY website creation" competition first-hand, I'd say that Weebly is by far and away the best in class for both web novices and pros alike. I'd really encourage all users to support Weebly and upgrade to PRO if you can. I think it would be nice to have access to pictures that have already been uploaded in our Weebly account to be accessed through the Slideshow. That way, I'm not having to upload the same pictures again and again.

The private pages could become something extremely powerful, but now it's only a single password protected page. Would be really great to be able to setup password protected areas but with several passwords, one per user. Would like to allow a personal to edit certain content on pages without being able to mess with design and settings, etc..

I am a girl under the age of 13 and play around with the HTML and CSS codes(I don't play around,I actually change it). I've made a pretty decent website. All the new things Weebly is adding is just making website creating MUCH easier. I even gave my friend a recommendation and she made a website with Weebly.My advice for Weebly, this is kind of personal, let us kind of personalize the website as we go. Let us pick what menu we want, what color we want our backrounds to be. I'll just say, let us personalize just about every inch of the site.Keep going Weebly.You're awesome like the Miz.

I love how much weebly has improved over the past two years that I have had my domain through them. The only things I can think of that's left to improve on are making more than one password for the site. I have several clients and would love to password protect several pages with custom passwords. The other thing is having a comprehensive shopping cart.

Great site thanks, so easy to use. Couple suggestions:
- Republish site from backup (in case of accidental page deletion or other human error disaster, etc)
- images from slide shows to be included in backup.
- be able to email post incl pics to blog

I am looking for an option to control different pages with different password.
Currently, since all pages are controlled by a single password, I am not able to give user specific password for individual pages which is not enough for a better control. Hope weebly would introduce something to this direction.

I am waiting for an option to control different pages with different password.
As of now I believe that you can only password protect on page with an iduvidual password, I need to be able to give user specific password for individual pages to control and to make the pages more exclusive this can make a weebly industry turn into something way bigger and even as known as something like google. Hope you take this addvise and make use of it.

It'd be totally cool if there were different styles for the Contact Form. It looks a little weird on a dark background, but if there were a dark style, that minor issue would be fixed. Just sayin' it'd be a nice feature.

Please enable the ability of Slide Show navigation to not be visable at all. This will allow for great Flash like banners, rither than the Slide Show look.

Anyone else has seen this glitch when you click into a custum html block, the html block just disappears or the entire block appears multiple times? This happens a lot with publicity banners or widgets.

I love having a pro account here, and am impressed with the regular updates to things. Definitely looking for the "big" new announcements, but know that they take time to roll out -- technology's never as easy as we want it to be when working behind the scenes.

just gone Pro to get more stats. Converted from another web design/hosting site and very happy so far. Great tip on the 404, will use that!

A few suggestions from me, a two-week user so far:

-Re Blogs, I'd like mine on my website but don't want to lose all my old blog posts - can I import my old blog into my new Weebly website?
-it'd be nice to get two pictures into a block of text, just allowing one is limiting
-Columns, an option for 3 columns would be good. I'm nesting two 2 column blocks at the moment, will this cause any glitches?
-embedded files, can these be editable, for instance can I have a password protected page with an excel sheet I can edit so I can record orders etc? I carry a HDD at the moment for this, would be nice to lose that
-any help on using .gif files in top banner/header bit, the nested pic edits seem to prevent them working
-Moderate your blog comments - reading these got tedious with all the spam!

Re site visit counters - worth a search online for these, I found a great one a while ago that showed the locations of visitors on a world map or globe, was very interesting to be able to see your site traffic on a map! Was easy to set up too, and with Weebly's great HTML tool, should be very simple for you to set up.

Really looking forward to using the Pro benefits, keep up the great work!!

I have created 5 websites with weebly, and am happy with each and every one, though I do wish that there was a way to do something more creative with headers, and possibly have control over the menu buttons both size and layout on the page.

For the price we pay we don´t get enough - they keep toying around with the latest and greatest Android this, Chrome that and what not but the tool LACKS features - we also see less than 12 updates per year for the money we all pay, I mean, wow, that´s nothing, seriously, I´ll touch up on my old web skills and do this myself..pft

Thanks for the improvements. You guys rock. Just upgraded to pro and bought a domain name. I would love to have the ability to download pictures within a photo gallery. Example: my customers have paid to access a certain photo gallery, and then they have the option to download any photo in that gallery with one click.

Since you've added the ability to link from a slide show image, why can't we have the same link capability from a single image. That way we could use an image as a button to hide unwieldy URLs, etc.

Hi all, I was really excited to be able to make a custom 404 page, and after naming an invisible page '404' (I also tried 'Error 404 - Site not published' since that's what seems to come up on weebly's error page tab subject line) and republishing the site, it's still just using the generic weebly page.

Good post, really helps me out with the pages. Can someone here answer a question for me too, I recently signed up and paid 39.99 to register a domain too and I registered the wrong domain name, am I screwed and out the 39.99 or is there anyway to get it switched? If so, what do I do? just send a random support comment?

this is nice feature.
But please do the gallery easier. Now my gallery has too many images and it takes long time to load. Please make it possible to click on one thumbnail and view the slideshow from there.
By doing this people can have few thumbnail images on their page and all the related images can be viewed only after clicking on them.
