Weebly Launches as a Featured Chrome Web Store App

Google just released the Chrome web store, a place for users of the Google Chrome™ web browser to discover and install applications, and we're proud to be featured in the utilities category.

Even better, Weebly login has been integrated so that you don't need to sign-up or log-in if you're already logged in to your Google account. Just hit the Weebly app icon, and you'll be ready to edit your site!

And as the fastest web browser out there, Chrome provides the best experience for using Weebly today.

Congratulations Weebly. As a long time Chrome user & fan, I do hope this may lead to more interaction between Weebly & Google. Such as being able to post images from my Picasa web albums on my website rather than having to go through Windows.

Again, you have shown that the Weebly team is innovative & up-to-the-minute. Really on the ball when it comes to looking after its users. Well done Weebly!!!

This is very exciting, but users are commenting that this is no more than a glorified bookmark. Can someone comment on the benefits of being Google Chrome compatible (other than an easier login for Google users)? Just wondering if there are other benefits (I already know that editing in Weebly is a bit faster on Chrome...in my experience).

With updates like this one and the previous (mobile websites), I wonder if the Weebly Team is concentrating their efforts on the "Most Requested Weebly Features". User logins and memberships have been #1 for over 6 months now...and while I wholeheartedly realize mobile website solutions are the wave of the future...it was a tad bit (cough) lower on the priority scale. Plus, I noticed on more than 1 occasion that the LOGIN or SIGNUP links at the bottem of people's blogs was linking back to WEEBLY.

As a PRO user (who pays to have links to Weebly removed)...I'm wondering the legitimacy of that linking. If we can't have memberships yet...WHY IS THERE A LINK TO LOGIN OR SIGNUP? Food for thought Weebly...food for thought.

@ Pro User: We're excited about being featured in the Google Chrome Web Store because it exposes Weebly to new people who may not yet be familiar with us AND improves the experience for existing Weebly users who use Chrome. Once you install the Weebly app in Chrome, it's added to your start page and you can log-in with a single click - very slick!

That said, we have been and continue to be focused on developing a whole slew of new improvements to the Weebly service. Keep an eye on our blog over the next few weeks and months. I promise you will not be disappointed.

I am really enjoying using Chrome. Its quick and easy to load. I use Ubuntu Linux and Weebly through Chromium works really well. There are a couple of bugs but overall a great experience. The App store is a good thing to help with marketing and promotions. Way to go Weebly.

This is a good development. I can see me utilizing this in the future. For now, I had to incorporate my Zazzle store into my Weebly site (which actually was easier than I thought, once I found the solution).

I love Google Chrome (migrated from Firefox), and any new development between Chrome and Weebly is bound to be a good thing.

wow, this is huge. As a Google chrome user from day 1, I now have access to everything with one click!

Oh wait a minute, I already had that with my saved password and bookmark etc.

Don't get me wrong, I like what google are doing with chrome but this is not the biggest news for weebly users. That said, I have installed and will no doubt use it a lot!

One question, can we have weebly support for iPad please as I could publish my blog etc on the move without having to drag the notebook everywhere!

Keep up the good work and well done with the launch!

I am happy the Weebly is moving up like its funny how i was on webs.com for about 1 year and a half and got on weebly and made a major website in about....1...2..3..3 and a half months so check me out congrats weebly!! www.focuzztechskillz.weebly.com now make a ipod app because i think i have to do that i really need one!

Congrats! I use chrome when editing websites and IE the rest of the time. The internet in general looks better in IE(IMO), but if your websites has moved past simple then editing in chrome usually is smoother(IMO). Also tired of "Never Get a 'Real' Job" as "Today's Featured Site". Merry Christmas

Does operating weebly using Google Chrome result in faster upload of pictures/photo's? I've noticed that my photo uploader has been really troublesome lately, crashing with almost every upload, to the point that I have to upload only 2 pictures at a time, and these are small size files, so shouldn't be a problem due to large file size.

I am happy to see that Weebly is bringing in this new functionality etc. however there are a number of basics that I would like to see sorted (I can say this as I am a Pro user paying for the service!). eg. Passwords capability for specific pages and Backups of site and content (I have lost big pieces of work due to the site hanging). How about it Weebly? I would like to continue paying you but I do expect you to address some of the basics as well.

Oh.. and a suggestion: You guys should lower your prices. I can't imagine that you charge so much money just to remove the tiny ad at the end of each page. $20 / year would be acceptable, but more than 40? Come on...

Thanks Weebly! The next thing I think needs some attention is the shopping cart functionality.

The current buttom systems are a little basic and it only appears to be a "buy now" without a shopping cart. I'm currently looking at shopify.com or similar to integrate so that I can run more ecommerce through my site, but I'd far prefer if my pro membership price included a better shopping

Loving the website, it makes life very easy for me and I'm a pro member. Keep up the good work!

i like chrome and i use it all the time

but firefox is better yet, and i had some issues uploading pictures and other stuff in chrome, so i use mozilla to edit

this are nice news, i like google and all his services, best on the net and best future

but i dont see to much sense in that web app, like a bookmark, also i would like to put my own theme and background,and no history, recent pages

can be made to show all my websites stats? and one click login near it

I think its right time that i should move to the chrome i've found using chrome a week ago its the most fastest browser open like a flash but as number of tabs grows chrome consume all of my computer memory create extension for other browsers.

by the way do you know you have to be a pro to get videos on the web well i can get videos with out being a pro by dragging the youtube app on a page and putting the video what you want on youtube and then put it on on youtube and copy and past the url for the youtube bit and i have got my video on the web that i wanted

but hey - just like me, i'm sure you've earned a pretty good userbase after launching the app since i didn't know weebly platform existed (despite it being pretty popular) before stumbling upon it in the webapps!

Hi, noticed this the other day, and yes I like it loads. Dont use chrome, still using IN8 and its very nice to be loged in when the page opens. One concern i do have, say if someone steals my laptop (looks in my favorates) they will have full acces to my weebly account and could delete my sites before i know what happening.... maybe weebly should or thimk about having a verifacation code for deleting web sites. hmm what about if all deleted web sites where held on a temperary server of a duration of say 2 weeks, just to be safe.

Great tool! Recently I found Weebly on Chrome Web Apps Store, and the only thing I can say is: COOL!

This is really sweet. I've implemented the features already. Another great feature Weebly should consider adding for us is inserting charts and being able to add borders around sections or sidebars to make the layout look better! Weebly Please Consider?

I tried Google Chrome and I liked it until I got Firefox 4.0 Beta version. I like it better because there are way more ways to customize it, and it actually seems a bit faster than Google Chrome. On the other hand, congratulations Weebly!
