Upgraded HTML5 Video Player

We've just upgraded the Weebly video player to now support fallback to HTML5 video on systems that don't support Flash. In practice, this means that the videos now work on mobile phones and on the iPad!

As you can see from the sample video above, the upgraded video player also features a small design facelift.

It's our small way of saying "Thanks" to Weebly Pro users for your support! We thrive on your continued feedback to let us know what we're doing right, what we could be doing better, and what new features we should build next.

i still suggest membership logins. although this is the best site designer sites ive ever been to, most if not all the other crappy ones have membership logins. weebly needs a feature that involves membership login stuff.

Thanks Weeble people!! If I had one suggestion, then it would be compatibility with iTunes. The CDs I have on iTunes won't upload on the audio. Only the MP3s that I have purchased. It's been a GREAT Weebly 2010! I'm looking forward to 2011. Thank you all so much!!

I'm a pro user and the weebly video tool is really important because the youtube embedding does not always work and sometimes youtube vids are removed. So yeah, I'm glad weebly is concentrating on improving that tool.

I would like to suggest adding a calendar/calendar of events like www.webs.com. Really nice feature if you are a CLUB which enables Events to be seen from the Home Page.

Nice to have a video player that works on cell phones. Not sure why the typical OS on an Android Featured Cell is limited to the type video files you can play. Bum's me out to have to wait to get next to my laptop or PC

Weebly is awesome, I have a couple videos on my Youtube Channel and on my website. The bad thing is that they are in Spanish.

Now bing is even awesomer with the Mobile Weebly and the HTML5 Video.

They would be awesomer if they would create an app for the App Store that let's you edit your website.

Hello! Siting through the use of your system, I found that the worst is the forum, even the search engines are reluctant to include, and the content is often hidden and disappear, very unstable! I hope you changed it to this forum! Do not ruin your reputation!
There are not very good blog, editing, as if the very good and normal! I hope you will also have a post process, I believe that if more complete, there will be more people willing to buy your service!

I like this feature but I'm not (yet) a pro user.
I use embedded videos (html) which works good, except that embedded videos doesn't work on iPad :(.
My friends and families use iPad when I share them my website, and they can't see all my embedded videos. I would love to be a pro user someday but can't afford it at the moment.
Hope this could be worked on as well.

The changes have been great. I went through Youtube when I started posting my videos on your site, simply for that reason (you couldn't view them on mobile phones). Thanks for making this adjustment.

WHAT WOULD MAKE MY WEEBLY LIFE 1,000,000,000 TIMES BETTER WOULD BE IF YOU ADDED AN AUTOMATIC NOTIFICATION TO ALL WHO COMMENT ON BLOGS! THAT WOULD BE AWESOME BECAUSE PEOPLE WHO COMMENT ON MY SITE NEVER KNOW WHEN THEIR WAS A RESPONSE TO WHAT THEY SAID. I always have to facebook them back or email them personally and it's a pain. It would help draw even more traffic to my Motivational/Inspirational website.

I'm noticing that this looks like you're using Weebly Blog feature for your own blog here. That is great.

I'm curious how you have made the width different though than the default features in the solution offering. I have no way to edit the width of the blog or sidebar. I find the blog is a little wider than desired and the sidebar is incredibly narrow. It would be really great if that was customizable similar to multiple columns in a "pages" view. It should carry consistency throughout.

This has been a great improvement! Thank you! As my work allows me to become much more mobile, I have been relying on my iPad much more however the lack of flash really did provide a big hurdle. I hope other platforms follow suit and make all videos iPad-friendly!

Great stuff. I can't find a mention that the audio player supports fallback to HTML5 on systems that don't support Flash. Is a similar upgrade for the audio player in the works?

I'm lovin' Weebly so I had to try out a site and see how it does on a Blackberry mobile. I found that you're videos dont default back to anything that will open a Blackberry player.. So I did a work around via Youtube on my free Weebly website via a hyperlink just below the embedded video.
IT WORKS !
