Announcing Weebly E-Commerce Features! 05/27/2009
We're launching a simple yet powerful way for you to create an online store through Weebly today. You can read about it at TechCrunch and VentureBeat, but I wanted to take a minute here to introduce you to the new features. ![]() When editing your site, there are now 4 new elements in the "Revenue" category: Product Block, Product Small, Product Regular and Product Large. The first time you drag one of these on, you will be prompted to associate your PayPal or Google Checkout account with Weebly, so you won't have to worry about that again. Each style has a different way of organizing your product, so you can have full control over how it is displayed. Even better, mix and match styles to draw attention to certain products over others, include colors variations or other options, and add variety to your store. Next, you simply upload a picture, add a title for the product, enter a description and (most importantly) enter a price. All of these aspects are fully customizable, so you can hide the picture or description, or change to any other format without dragging on another product. You have all of the Weebly tools available to create your store. Build it out however you want with complete flexibility -- add featured products on the home page, create pages for categories or products, and feature videos, audio and photo galleries to show off your products in the best light. Best of all, Weebly does not take a cut of your sales, and these features are included free in all Weebly accounts -- so you can get started selling easily and for free! We've created a couple sample stores, with screenshots above, so you can see some of the power and flexibility of the system, but we're even more excited to see what you can create! We'll continue featuring existing sites, but will also start featuring new Weebly stores, so be sure to submit your site for consideration. We're working hard to bring you the quickest, simplest and most powerful way for you to create your online presence, and we're excited to be able to offer the ability for you to sell products from within Weebly. Thanks again for your continued support! UPDATE (7/8/09): International currency support has just been released and can be configured under the "Settings" tab of the editor. Looks great and works really easily. Always wanting more but when can we have alternate currency? e.g. sterling and euro?

This site is wonderful! This is what I call a good stimulus plan for all of the struggling small business owners like myself! Thank You Weebly for giving us a hand up instead of a hand out!

As yet, I do not have immediate need of these new features, but I am thrilled that they are available to me! Maybe I'll find myself using them one of these days... and, if so, probably enjoying it thoroughly.

Nice job! I was trying to build the same thing using a paragraph/picture and then creating the "add to cart" from my paypal acct and pasting it in. This looks and works so much easier.... and just in time.

I am really excited about the feature, because I had fought with the code side of google checkout a few days before you added it. I was hoping you could add the shipping code to it, or a way to add custom code to the premade click and drags. over all though,

Deliighted, I have wanted this shopping cart feature since the day I joined Weebly, I upgraded my Art Fridge Magnet web site to an active shopping carts site, in an easy, couple of hours and will gradually upgrade my other Weebly web sites next week and start increasing my promotion to the sites as the shopping cart will bring sales results not just browsers. THANK YOU Weebly :-).

I think that this is fantastic as I have tried out almost every different ecommerce builder in the last 3 months. So far so good but I'd like to see the buyer to be able to click on the product image and have it either enlarge so they can see detail or have a zoom feature.

Love! Love! Love! Has totally green-lighted the store feature I was thinking of dropping because I didn't have a really fast and easy way to it. Weebly, how do I love thee? I keep counting the ways!

More then anything else I think that people should be able to upload flash to their header. If the issue is storage space then perhaps have a file size limit. This could be used for so many different things. This is such an easy application to add to the weebly system so what is the issue with not allowing flash. Don't you want people to be able to turn their weebly into vibrant looking headers. Be the best, stay the best and prevail as best. Please show me how fast you respond to feature requests as I keep requesting this. I have introduced many business owners I know to weebly but some of them say they would rather be able to add flash. I would rather them buy a domain and your services by you giving them what they are asking for. You would be the only ones that allowed such a thing on a free service. Build your user base.

I have absolutely no idea how this feature works, it is agrivating to not have the line graph, showing how many people visit your site, i loved THAT feature, i am not paying to have a website, that is registered under the weebly domain, I dont think people who are not selling anything should have to put up with this it is horrible.

Hi Team Weebly, the eCommerce resource is a great addition to your already substantial number of resources. I must say however that had you introduced this eCommerce feature sooner I may have save some dollars; which brings me to my question: Is it possible to transfer products (pictures & descriptions) from my presently owned eCommerce site, www.selectgems.biz, over to my Weebly sites? I have promoted My Weebly sites a great deal more than any other. Any assistance you provide will be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

I was impressed with the new Revenue format until I tried to use it. I already have an account with PayPal so I went with that choice. The problem was the button. How do I connect the little green button to PayPal? I ended up with two buttons because I could not figure out how to link the HTML with the one offered in the Revenue format. (United States)

It's a fantastic set up - and I was very excited....... until I got part way through the set up process and found it was of no use to anyone outside of the UK or US! Would have been appreciated if that had been mentioned in the beginning when you promoted the new tools. I hope that google will change this, as I would like very much to use the new modules.

It's a great feature but I wish they could incorporate the ability to have different options for one item or even different prices. Such as if I were to sell a T-shirt I could list the t-shirt once and have the customer choose the size they need from a drop-down menu. Not featured in weebly but I was able to generate the code through the my google check out account.

Paypal function is great. However, if a visitor adds an item to cart, they get forwarded to your paypal landing page where they can view their cart. When they hit the continue button on that page, they are returned to your website.
