We're currently looking for people who are able to help us translate Weebly into other languages. Specifically, we're looking for help translating Weebly into:

- Spanish
- French
- Chinese
- German
- Japanese
- Italian
- Arabic
- Portuguese
- Korean

Wow. This is a now any of these nice feature. I don't know any of these languages besides English and some Spanish through classes, but it is good for weeblys population in views an in pure popularity. I am lucky weebly is there because I couldn't do it without them and now I have climbed up to a pro status on the website creator scale. Thank you Weebly!

Google translation (and other machine translation services provided across the internet) could be useful to understand a foreign site or (as a translator) to get the first hint of your translation, but the result is (in the most cases) unsuitable to publish. The best thing you could do is to provide a link which lets visitors to the translation site (such as Google). When you translate and would like to take advantage of a machine translation service, I'd personally suggest http://translation.reverso.net because this enables you to directly look up each word for alternative translations and to modify the resulting text. The quality also seems to be better. The first sentence of the description of machine translation at German Wikipedia will be translated to:
* by Google: "The Machine translation is an attempt, using a computer program automatically translations."
* by reverso: "The machine translation is the attempt to execute translations automatically by means of a computer program."

Machine translations ultimately always leave the results unprofessional. Not all words and expressions can be directly translated from one language to another, the theme or meaning needs human intervention to enable it to translate into an intelligent and clear result.

I agree with the comments about machine translation giving gibberish at times and not being professional.

That said, as an amateur I've found the Google plug-in a great tool for my website and to translate other websites. The languages in question for me tend to be Dutch followed by Swedish, Finnish and then German. Getting professional translation or spending the time to learn these languages properly would be quite an endeavour, especially since the only source for translation or instruction would be (very pricey) Berlitz services in my area.

Nice idea, but shouldn't Weebly be working on some of the minor changes that could really benefit existing users before branching out even further?

For one, how hard would it be to give us an option to open links into new windows? I assumed with the 'Advanced HTML editing' that I would be able to do this, but apparently not, as it ONLY shows the few lines of HTML code for the theme... :(

Because of a lack of this, I am working on ways to incorporate everything that's linked to externally into my site - something I really don't want to be doing!

I would love to help translate weebly into another language. I am good with German. I have already sent an email.

And i think that Dave is rightin what he says. I don't think we should be expanding weebly globally until everything is perfect. I say this because there are still updates being made, and some things may not be clear, even in english. I know that when i started using weebly, that i had much difficulty in using it, even with the helpful little yellow boxes. after several months of tinkering, however, i have become quite used to using weebly.

What i am trying to say is that we need to make the site better before expanding it.

European Portuguese is the real and standard Portuguese and should be used for this website's translation. Just like Italian form Itally, Spanish from Spain, and French from France, Portuguese came from Portugal, and is the standard, used worldwide.

Heyy I know a really reliable translater I use alot. I use it to help me learn Tagalog.

Just make sure that when you translate something you back translate it to make sure it makes sense =]

Example.

1st English: "Hello. My name is Jonathan. What is your name?"

1st Tagalog: "Hello. Ang pangalan ko ay Jonathan. Ano ang pangalan mo?"

Translate it back to English using the translater....

2nd English: "Hello. My name is Jonathan. What is your name?"

If it is a nice match then your okayy if not then try tweaking the words a little bit. I also recomend using the Google Translation on the left hand side where it chooses. It seems to be more acurate.

Its a good idea, why should not someone give something back when he is hosting for free.
I tried now 11(!) times to get a text to translate but there are some problems with getting texts even randomly; - so I translated just the introduction text on the first page.

If any of you have seen my site, You may think I am imature, but I am on the A honor role in my school and I take Bilangual classes. (It helps me for writing books.) i think "Weebly" need many other tools to improv & publish than translate it

I was curious why not use the google translator. Might not be a bad way to start then you can have it proof read by someone who can read and write the language.
