On Tuesday we released a new version of Weebly with over 150 individual bug fixes and enhancements, and two very exciting features: Weebly pro accounts and Google AdSense integration.

Weebly pro accounts come with quite a few new features, including password-protected pages, the ability to remove the Weebly footer (the one line of text at the bottom of your pages that says "Website created with Weebly"), the ability to upload files larger than 5 MB, an audio player and the ability to create up to 10 sites per account.

We're also offering premium support, which means that your support request will be answered first, before any others.

Several of you have been asking us how you can help support Weebly's ongoing development, and this is the perfect way to do that. For anybody who purchases a pro account: Thank you!

We also released Google AdSense integration as part of the standard Weebly free service. It's an extremely simple way to add AdSense to your pages: Just drag and drop it on!

Complete the short form and click "Sign up", and you'll be set up with an AdSense account that's already completely configured. You can choose between the ad formats you want to show and different colors for the ads. (If you already have an AdSense account, you can associate it)

You'll also be able to make money from your site! We split the revenue with you 50/50.

These are two of the most important features that are part of the new release, but there are over 150 fixed bugs and other enhancements -- you'll probably notice that a lot has changed.

We're already working hard and excited about the next set of features. We appreciate all of your feedback, and thanks again for using Weebly!

how do you obtain the money? after using pro, do they send it to your credit card you use to pay for the weebly pro subscription?

Fri, 13 Jun 2008 7:35:47 am

Was unsure if I should add the adsense but I thought I would give it a go, so I added it to my Before and after photo page. My only question is how do I track if anyone has clicked on the link, get paid etc, I have not received an email from google yet (does this take a while?) Could you check I entered everything correctly on the sign up form. Thanks and way to go Weebly I love this site!

Hi Guys
All I want to know is with this premium upgrade can I access the code and make what changes I desire to make?

Sat, 14 Jun 2008 12:10:04 am

Thank you guys for teaming up with google adsense. I've been waiting for this moment for quite some time. Up next is the ability to upload videos.

Sat, 14 Jun 2008 7:08:03 am

I'm just glad a majority of the bug fixes are gone.

I'm loving the pro.

Sat, 14 Jun 2008 10:05:46 pm

guys, you really need to
1/ add a filter to these comments to keep the spam out (how about using Disqus or similar and letting us use it as well)
2/ add some more control to the templates (fonts, header positions etc)
3/ add a calendar control
4/ add MetaWeblog API (or similar) to the blogging platform so I can use Windows Live Writer
5/ Improve the support system interface so I can easily see issues I've logged
6/ Make it work with IE8 (doesn't even work right in IE7 Emulation Mode)
7/ Add a slideshow/gallery (like http://codeplex.com/slideshow)
8/ Did I mention moderate comments? While you're at it some responses would be nice as it seems very much one way
9/ Fix the bugs! I hate having blocks of text just disappear and having to redo things

Currently looking at moving a couple of sites across to the platform, and we'd pay... if the features were there

Hello.

I think the new features that Pro offers are great but I don't seem to be able to go pro, no matter how hard I try. Basically, it won't accept my card:(

I hope you get the payment thing sorted out soon - if you used Paypal & a wider range of cards, I'm sure you'd get a hell of a lot more take up.

Here's hoping that doesn't take too long :)

Sun, 15 Jun 2008 4:55:32 am

Just want to know IF there is a option to pay through Paypal.
Giving away creditcard info on a NOT safe page is asking for trouble I think.

Keep up the good work.

Pro isn't the answer. The functions should be free and they could add a donation to weebly page instead. Pro isn't offering enough at the moment to warrant upgrading.

Mon, 16 Jun 2008 3:37:59 am

Check out my site. Thanks Weebly for all that you've done. Without you guys there's no way I'd have the site I've got now.... Awesome. !!

Michael from Sydney Australia.

I'm not happy that weebly is going to start makeing you pay for there hosting when it was free the first time .

Mon, 16 Jun 2008 9:34:50 pm

Is it just me or is it like 99 percent of people here don't really comment on the actual article.

Good job so far weebly. Definitely gonna get the Weebly Pro.

Listen to Offbeatmammal.

Why spam here? Get a life.

Why complain about Adsense, it's optional? If you "need" 100% maybe you should be willing to pay for your site.

I'd like to see the bugs fixed, especially annoying to see edits disappear while working on them.

I'll consider paying for a Pro version after seeing the bugs fixed.

Thanks,
GR

Greg:

That's coming up next. We're working on a way for you to customize the code on your site, while keeping it simple and easy to use.

Thanks for using Weebly!

Tue, 17 Jun 2008 12:41:53 pm

Offbeatmamal:

Some of your points have already been fixed (you can add a calendar control through Google Calendar, for example), and most of the bugs have been fixed as well (the bug you referred to in #9 has been fixed).

Most of the other points, we're working on, such as an easy way for you to customize the code of your site, and support for IE 8.

Thanks again for your suggestions as well -- they're helpful and let us figure out what people want the most.

Tue, 17 Jun 2008 12:42:24 pm

Lou:

I've emailed you so we can get it sorted out.

Tue, 17 Jun 2008 12:43:23 pm

Dana:

The credit card payment page *is* secure, you just won't see the lock on the entire page as it's in a secure iframe.

We've made quite a bit of effort to ensure that the entire transaction is secure from start to finish, and we never store your credit card information.

Tue, 17 Jun 2008 12:44:24 pm

Cameron:

Thanks for your feedback. We're excited about the updated features we released in pro, but we're also excited about continuing to improve the product for everyone.

We appreciate your support should you decide to go pro, but even if you don't, thanks for using Weebly!

Tue, 17 Jun 2008 12:45:28 pm

GR:

We've fixed that one. If it's still happening to you, please email me (david at weebly . com) and I'll look into it.

Tue, 17 Jun 2008 9:44:05 pm

I got it finally.

First thing I did was replace the "Create a free website with Weebly" with my website's slogan.

It would be great if you could let us have the ability to put a website icon too. The logo that appears to the left of the website address.

Wed, 18 Jun 2008 3:35:53 am

Where can I find pricing information on Weebly pro and a full feature list?

Richard

Wed, 18 Jun 2008 3:48:27 am

David:

Thank you for replying to the genuine posters concerns.

I second the need for some spam control in YOUR blog and would love some spam control in OUR blogs but would settle for comment delete option.

Please try and upgrade the text editing tool, we need lists, fonts, multiple images in text, indents all available at the other free competition (read wordpress).

Still building at the moment but hopefully will look good in end.

Keep going at it guys still better than GPC and getting better.

Wed, 18 Jun 2008 5:31:38 am

How do I go about advertising my site so that more ppl can check it out? Thanks!

Wed, 18 Jun 2008 8:59:05 am

Richard:

You can delete comments by opening an already published post, scrolling down to the comments, and deleting the ones you want removed.

We're working on several of those features for the text editing -- stay tuned!

Wed, 18 Jun 2008 3:11:54 pm

hi David! loving the site...as a professional musician I found it awesome how quickly I could get a site up with everything I need! THANX...trying to submit a sitemap to google to get my site moving up in Google search..but having no luck...wondering if anybody else has gotten this accomplished successfully..
...ALSO, would love to be able to upload folders just as a web server so I can generate a gallery using a PICASA web album template and then upload the folders to WEEBLY...any chance of this being possible??...or maybe there's a trick to do it already?
...ALSO, would love to be able to place FLASH objects on a page and that kind of stuff

KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!---see what you think of my site so far!
-Tony

Thanks heaps for creating this add-on feature, it is going to make my webpage more secure from unwanted guests. This is great, I will sign up very soon.

Thu, 19 Jun 2008 6:50:40 pm

hey, i was just wondering how do you pay us, by how many people hit our sites and see our add? or how does this work?

Fri, 20 Jun 2008 2:17:28 pm

Great job adding Adsense. Like some others I didn't get an email from Google. But, I already have an Adsense account, so maybe I won't get one.

I would like to know how the Adsense clicks are tracked. Since we are splitting revenue, how does that work? Surely Google doesn't split it. Do you rotate your Adsense ID and our Adsense ID to split revenue?

Mike

Fri, 20 Jun 2008 2:26:09 pm

Oops, never mind, I found my answer about how Adsense clicks are tracked. Go here for more info:

Thanks,

Sat, 21 Jun 2008 7:11:12 pm

thats stupid. i like it free! i know i get the same thing almost. but if you could make ALL of it free. becuase i will soon have a multi-100 dollar company running, and you arent helping me by cutting out the music.. i need the music player!

Sun, 22 Jun 2008 7:05:02 am

Thats nice and all, but adsense should be 70/30 if you agree with me. It's really unfair... But check out my cool site Khaider6.co.nr that I created with weebly, I try my best to thank them...

Tue, 24 Jun 2008 10:55:58 am

I had added the Adsense to my site, but when I checked who was being added it was other mortgage companies. I do not want to lose business to other companies in the same business. Is there a way for you to limit what types of ads are put on my website?

Wed, 25 Jun 2008 8:14:48 am

I can't figure out how to deny weebly pro. I mean it does sound great and all but, I really don't want to have to pay for it. The money adds up and I already spend a fortune on Jericho, the band i'm in. if anybody besides the people who repeat their crap, could please help me, I would appreciate it. Thanks!

Thu, 26 Jun 2008 8:00:48 am

you can only get paid if u put adds on your website and for everytime someone clicks on the add you get paid 50 cents. hope this helps!

~Syd

P.S. u need to become a member of addsense, or any other add site to put on adds. and to become a member u need to pay a for every add u put on.

Hey guys. Yeah, at least now they have a sign that says they are in maintainance. It used to just sawy "can't connect to server." I hope they finish it soon. I'm loosing money for every hour its down.

Tue, 01 Jul 2008 12:22:05 pm

I was just pulling out my credit card this morning to start paying them, now I'm thinking that I need to use a service that has a bit more power behind them!

Tue, 01 Jul 2008 1:18:15 pm

Guys I have not been able to access my webpage since last night. I received an email saying the issue would be fixed in a couple of hours but its been more than 14 hours that the issue has been resolved. Please let me know if anyone else is also facing getting this error "You don't have permission to access /index.html on this server" when you try to access your page.

web site still down! When will it be running again?

Dan

Tue, 01 Jul 2008 1:44:30 pm

Our customers have been unable to access our website for the past 14 hours or so.
Had three phone up today asking if we are still trading!! (how many assume we are not and have gone elsewhere?)/>NOT HAPPY especially as we upgraded to the premium account 2 weeks ago. <br/>If the site is not restored by the morning (9:30pm here now) then we will be requesting a charge back, for the subscription that we paid, from the credit card company for 'goods not supplied as advertised'.

Tue, 01 Jul 2008 2:13:06 pm

As a seller who relies mostly on my Weebly hosted website, I am losing badly needed sales AND money. I first noticed the site down at around 12 p.m. last night. I was so thrilled to see a message this morning that read the site would be ready in a couple of hours. Unfortunately...it wasn't! It has now been down for 16 hours. If anyone from Weebly is reading these comments, could you please give us an update as to what is going on and when it is expected to be fixed? Be honest this time please...no BS..give it to us straight so we can make preparations if needed. I am so frustrated- I am a very understanding person and I believe most other weebly site owners probably are as well but my understanding is depreciating with each passing hour. Please give us more information! I personally will have to begin making another website this evening if it is still not up. I do NOT want to have to go through all that again but what choice will I have?

Tue, 01 Jul 2008 2:44:54 pm

Dan,
Thank you for your follow up. I hope soon so that my website www.dropship.weebly.com is back up again and making money.

Tue, 01 Jul 2008 10:37:59 pm

Hey, guys

This is a reply telling all of you how to check your ads.

First of all, even though you put the forms right, google will not send you an email every click.

To check your click times and how much you have in your account, goto https://www.google.com/adsense
and sign in. There you should be able to check everything!

And you only will get paid every month if you had ad least 10 USD at that month. You won't get paid if you have less than 10 USD. Your money will be kept in next month and see if your Month A + Month B is 10 USD or more, if less? Than you need to wait till next month again.

please get rid of the spam

Sat, 12 Jul 2008 8:41:50 am

Can you at least go through and manually get rid of the spam? These comment sections are a pain wading through all the spam. And while you're at it can you get rid of all the postings where people complain that everything on the internet should be free and that you should work very hard and not make any money.

Thu, 17 Jul 2008 4:57:49 pm

That's some pretty cool features. Maybe a Pto account in near future...! Thanks again!

Fri, 18 Jul 2008 5:32:13 am

I keep reseting my password but every time it doesn't work. Because of this I haven't updated my site in weeks and I really want to. Can you help? Or can you at least tell me what to do. Thank you.

Thu, 24 Jul 2008 7:40:03 pm

It is stupidity to post spam here so stop it now vist the NEW WEEBLY USERS GROUP and cast your vote to stop spammers. I have started a users group site for anyone that has a site or has built a site using Weebly. Post your website link on the WEEBLY USERS GROUP instead of here and get even more google love.

What are the costs of having a Google Adsense in my website.

Thu, 07 Aug 2008 12:24:34 pm

Weebly,

I would like to repost my web page - Floetry - or - Angela Khristin Brown Poetry page - on Weebly. The web page is only one month old since July. I would like to continue with adsence which can be profitable for both of us. I have not heard from you since my last request.

great!! Thanks!!!

Fri, 07 Nov 2008 7:22:17 am

Yours blog is a blog with good content.

Your Niche is good and could bring you more readership. It could be used for <a href="http://www.blogcytes.com"> Niche Building</a>.

Try looking for ways to monetize your blog too. You can do paid reviews for advertisers.

This will let you <a href="http://www.blogcytes.com/aboutus.html">earn money to blog</a>.

A unique way of earning in your free time writing your favourite blog offered by <a href="http://www.blogcytes.com/index.html">BlogCytes</a>

It is just my suggestion as i find good potential in your blog.

Good Luck !!!

Fri, 07 Nov 2008 8:04:32 am

Great job in the pro version. Adding adsense is a great idea too. it will make monetizing these sites a lot easier in the long run. Good additions to an already great product.

Fri, 07 Nov 2008 8:08:13 am

Gotta hand it to you that was a greeat idea to add adsense to Weebly. Some really good stuff going on here. Good to see you are having success.

Fri, 07 Nov 2008 8:09:15 am

Great job

Fri, 07 Nov 2008 8:12:17 am

You can't beat it. Great job on these new additions. makes a lot of sense to add them. good job.

Fri, 07 Nov 2008 8:18:47 am

Weebly pro accounts come with quite a few new features, including password-protected pages, the ability to remove the Weebly footer (the one line of text at the bottom of your pages that says "Website created with Weebly"), the ability to upload files larger than 5 MB, an audio player and the ability to create up to 10 sites per account.

We're also offering premium support, which means that your support request will be answered first, before any others.

Several of you have been asking us how you can help support Weebly's ongoing development, and this is the perfect way to do that.

Sounds really cool

Fri, 07 Nov 2008 8:24:20 am

It looks as if you have been of to a great start. hats off to all of your hard work. It looks to have really paid off for you. Congratulations are in order.

Sat, 15 Nov 2008 12:54:32 am

Announcing Weebly pro and AdSense is a very very important information for all of us. It is additional features of the new premium release that offers me great way of earning. You did really a great job. I will sign up very soon. Thanks!

Thu, 20 Nov 2008 1:38:36 am

Kinda like squidoo and hubpages, right? Ain't nothing wrong with a little monetization, as long as it's in moderation.

Thu, 20 Nov 2008 3:33:15 am

This page looks terrible, needs word wrap. Looks really amateurish.

Fri, 21 Nov 2008 11:13:36 am

Looks great guys, one question why is weebly not completely customizable. Something along the lines of wordpress...where you buy "credits" and then you get access to the code... Just a thought.

Tue, 25 Nov 2008 9:12:03 am

Thank you for the update. Keep up the Great work Weebly.

Thanks for letting us know this information.

I love weebly but support is non existent.

I sent my question to support about 4 months ago in regards to upgrading and I got NADA!

The blog section is useless for finding information...a forum would be ideal.

I STILL dont know if I can create more than one password protected page. In other words, I want to save information on my site for each of my clients and each one have a different password to access different information set up for just them.

Can anyone already using PRO tell me if this is the case?

My bosses are now breathing down my neck and they dont want to fork over the $24.00 to find out.

Thanks for any help!!!

I am thinking of moving my site to "weebly" and I also use adsense already. Is the 50/50 split the same on a Pro account? or if you upgrade do you get all the adsense cash?

just wondering

Muzz

You’re amazing. I’ve downloaded the new Weebly and it loads & works like a charm. I really appreciate your hard work; it’s not much, but I’ve localized your plugin into Spanish, and have placed the corresponding language file here for you to download/use and distribute as you see fit - of course, also under “your” GPL license. FYI - I’ve used a generic “polite” Spanish, which should be OK on both sides of the Atlantic.

You have created a wonderful mechanism bringing Weebling closer to the public. As someone who has only been in the soft arena for a short time your candor about what you do, and what this blog is about is very refreshing.

As for me, I want the Comments at my site to behave like your comments. Can you please send me the php comments page of your site or tell me how to make the changes that it will look like your page?
thanks.

I have been using weebly for months now and I am very much convinced that they are really powerful.Availing the pro account will surely provide you better results since the free account is already providing one.

Hello,

I just finished my free website and have already published it. However I had my own Domain name already bought not from weebly. Will I still have free email from google if I were to upgrade my free website to PRO? Weebly says that free website from google is for people who purchase a domain name from Weebly. Pls advise back. Thank you.
