Register Domains, new themes and Time.com

We quietly rolled out a new featured over the weekend that will let you register a domain from within Weebly. Whereas before you had to register a domain elsewhere and configure the DNS settings manually, we're making it dead simple to register your own .com, with only 2 clicks from start to finish: type in the domain you're looking for, and you'll see an instant indicator of whether or not it's available. Then, choose the registration length and enter your billing information, and the domain is set up and functional in less than 5 minutes.

The new domain registration is part of a larger upgrade to the domain choosing interface. You can now use a subdomain of Weebly, register a new domain from within Weebly, or bring a domain registered elsewhere over (we'll now also check the DNS settings for you, and let you know when your domain is set up correctly).

Among other things, we've also added 2 new themes and fixed a few small glitches here and there. Thanks again for the tremendous amount of feedback you've sent our way -- we read it very closely, and it helps us decide what we should concentrate on next.

Finally, we were mentioned as one of Time's 50 best websites of 2007. If you like Weebly, be sure to vote for us on the poll!

The first time I try to log in and it says Weebly is updating will be done in 15 min. I come back in 15 min and it says that again!

Keep what you say stop it in 15 min like you said!

The site's been great. I use it as a campaign site and it fits the bill. Easy to use and update.

I know you're going to be launching some "really cool" stuff soon, but could you add some less than cool, but very functional, stuff, such as some graphic elements, the ability to select fonts and adjust line height?

Also, you guys must know a lot of work arounds. Could you publish some of them? It would help a lot.

first of all, i must say that weebly is simply awesome. i have now totally moved my blogger blog to weebly.

i have two request though, which are functions i found really useful on blogger;

1. having more than one author on a weebly site/blog,
2. and an email alert when someone commented on my post.

I just created the 'email alert' feature for you, and made it available for everyone. You'll now receive an email alert when someone posts a comment on your blog -- you can turn it off by editing your user settings. We're working on getting a good multi-author system, which should be available within a month or two.

David, what do you mean by "you can turn it off by editing your user settings"? There is no such option in the Settings tab and nothing in Help.

User settings are on the user homepage where your page view graphs are - it's the blue button to the left of the orange send feedback button near the top of the page

For the last few days I have been trying to get my domain to point to weebly. Well now it does yet weebly is saying it doesn't and will not take my own domain name :/ can someone please help me? Also would it be possible to get adsense as a feature?

HELP!!!
I am having a problem with my site. As a viewer I can see my website www.bledhadjout.net fine like anybody else but once I log in to make some updates, it seems that my pages disappear completely. I can't see any button on "elements section" or the pages on Manage Pages . The only word that I see is "undefined" . Does that mean that I have to create my pages again. Any idea!. Also, for the hyperlinks within the website, Weebly doesn't seem to like to have more than on link from one page because everytime I try to hyperlink one page to more than one page, only one works. The rest is dead. Let me know and thank you!

I just found out about weebly and just signed up -- it surely does look like a great service, I LOVE that I can utilize a domain I already own and host on your servers. Supercool.

Here is a question -- Is there a way to get email through the domain name I've hosted with you? I'm not Mr. Tech Savvy and have not ever set up email of my own, have always used hotmail or gmail or whatever, but one of the reasons I signed up for my own domain is to get email to myname@mydomain.com.

I know enough to know that if I were to host with godaddy or like that, my email is also somehow set up through that hosting -- is the situation here the same?

Any information you can provide greatly appreciated.

@ dancestoblue: We offer free email forwarding for users that register their domain through Weebly, but if you registered through another service, such as GoDaddy, you will have to setup email through them.

He means you do not have to pay for a sub-domain like what you have now, but for a standard domain, you have to pay.

Suggestions: allow photo with text to flow in different directions, like photo paste to the left, or center or to the right. Photo and text within a photo and text where the photos can be re-sized and moved within the frame.

Allow hotlinking or loading flash files, music or videos or another website which has option to occupy whole screen or just snapshot of the site.

Allow avatars or animated gifs.

Allow other ads like google and affiliate ads.

Allow creation of user-designed forum.

I am so into this site what a great tool in fact I just thought of this now as I continue to work my site and the traffic continues to build. I am going to promote weebly on my site to build the momentum for you guys so please keep bringing up the many perks and surprises.
Davld can I suggest an idea in regards to an e commerce on weebly The website I would like to build will have a check out service (ie. you can purchase items right from the website). The idea that I am going for is to have a file automatically sent to the customer via email right after purchase.
Is this something that may be in the future of weebly?

Now I know you guys are busy with adding new features in here but I was wondering if you can implement a quick one like you did for the email comment alert.

I'm referring to the Blogs page, I'm requesting for an option to show how many post we would like to display on it. It seems that my page is getting longer and longer as I post new entries. So I'm really hoping that this option of being able to show our preferred number of post can be made available soon.

This is a bug we know about, and it happens when you don't get any visits for a day -- stats are shifted over for that day. We're fixing it soon! :)

It would be nice to have multiple Design and Admin users. Unless I missed something, this can only be managed by 1 person.

Secondly, I realize that I can embed a group discussion but having this ability as a 'drop-in gadget' would be very effective.

Otherwise, keep up the good work. I migrated off Google Page Creator and love what you're doing here!

you need a way to add a page to the links that goes to another website, say you create some website forums, then you can just have the links send people there.

Maybe an option of being able to show less than 10? I think there are some people who would want to display one post per page. As for me I just want to display the latest 3 post.

Congratulations !!!

The service is excellent and the design of the templates are beautiful.

MY ONLY CONCERN IS THAT I TRIED TO AVOID HAVING THE TITLE OF MY WEBSITE OR FIXED FROM THE FONTS/COLORS PRESET FOR EACH TEMPLATE. IT NORMALLY APPEARSIN THE BANNER. HOW CAN I HAVE MY SITE WITH A TITLE THAT DOESN'T SHOW IN THE BANNER.

Ok, I left feedback message yesterday morning and can't continue to I hear back. I bought domain name through weebly for 10 years, and now I'm wondering if I made a mistake. I need the domain name, but it's useless unless I can develop a website using it. My website says that its published, but when I go to it, it's says error 404 and bumps me back to weebly. Also, how do I get my logo (jpg) to resize. Unlike some of the photos I've uploaded, the one in the heading doesn't have a box to resize. Help would be appreciated.
