Introducing Collaborative Website Editing 04/20/2011
There are quite a few reasons why you might want to allow other people to edit and update your website. Maybe you want to give co-workers access to help keep your homepage content fresh, or maybe you want to give a friend access to co-author a blog with you. All this and more is now possible with our newly released Collaborative Website Editing features. Here’s how it works: There's now a new tab in Weebly called Editors. This tab enables you to invite other people to help you edit and build your website. Just enter the emails of your invitees, choose their role, and type up a short message to add them. New editors receive an email invitation with a link they can click to get started, and the website is then listed as a site they can contribute to in their site dashboard. If you’re a free user, you can invite an unlimited number of people to administer the site with you. If you’re a Pro user, you can restrict people’s editing access to specific pages or limit access to the dashboard only for viewing site stats, blog comments, and form entries. If multiple people are editing a site at the same time, the system will intelligently show you which pages the others are editing so your updates don't conflict with one another. We've created a quick demo video to show you the new features in action: Collaborative editing was one of our most highly requested features and we’re extremely excited to release it live to the millions of websites on Weebly. Also included in this release is the option to copy a site. When you press the “more” button in the site dashboard, you’ll see the option to copy the site which generates a duplicate copy you can use for a similar purpose. We hope you enjoy these new updates and want to thank everyone for your loyal support as we continue to build the best platform for website creation online! 164 Comments We just released a couple new features: a refreshed Pages tab and the ability to link images in a slide show. The old Pages tab could become unwieldy with a large amount of pages, and it was a bit cluttered and unfriendly. With the new Pages interface we've just released, it's a lot easier to manage a long list of pages, quickly see which pages are hidden or password protected, and set a link to an external site. Another highly requested feature is making its debut today: the ability to link images in a slideshow. A slideshow can be a perfect introduction to your site, showcasing the various sections in an appealing graphical format. You can now create links for each of the images, so that visitors can click them and be directed to that particular area. We're working on a few really big features for Weebly, but until those are ready to be released, we wanted to tackle a couple common, simple requests. And even though we only blog about larger features, we're fixing bugs and tweaking things every day. As always, we're deeply appreciative that you've chosen Weebly to create your website -- especially those of you who have upgraded to Pro or purchased a domain name. We're working hard day in and day out to make Weebly an incredibly easy, fun and powerful way for you to get online. Provide Us with Feedback & Win Some Prizes 03/03/2011
As you know, we are always striving to provide the easiest and most powerful website building experience available.
To help us better understand your needs, we've created a short survey. It shouldn't take more than a couple minutes to complete and it will really help us to prioritize our improvements going forward. Now, we just got a box of super cool Weebly swag delivered to our office and we want to give some of it away. Of the people who fill out the survey below, we're going to choose 5 at random to pick their choice of the following prizes: * Weebly Women's T-Shirt (American Apparel, various sizes, light blue color, beautifully designed, says "Love at First Site") * Weebly Men's T-Shirt (American Apparel, various sizes, black shirt, orange text that says "Wanna see my Weebly?") * Weebly Key Chain / Bottle Opener (high quality, chrome finish) * Weebly Shot Glass (classic shot glass with the Weebly logo) Click here to fill out the survey. We're excited to have just released 2 excellent features to Weebly that are now available to all users. Web Fonts We just introduced 60 new font choices! You were previously limited to 13 fonts because only about 13 fonts are natively supported by everyone's computers. Thanks to the broad support HTML5 now enjoys, we've upgraded Weebly to offer a whole new set of fonts! To access the font choices, click on the "Design" tab, and then click on "Design Options". Social Media Buttons for Your Blog Our new social media buttons make it really easy for people to share your blog posts on Facebook & Twitter. You've probably seen these buttons all over the web, and now they're automatically integrated into the bottom of each of your blog posts. Once someone shares your post on Facebook or Twitter, their friends see the update, and then your website gets even more readers and comments! However, if you don't like these new buttons, you can easily turn them off by un-checking the option under the "Manage Blog" area. Want to see how it works? Just click one of the share buttons below! Upgraded HTML5 Video Player 12/29/2010
We've just upgraded the Weebly video player to now support fallback to HTML5 video on systems that don't support Flash. In practice, this means that the videos now work on mobile phones and on the iPad! As you can see from the sample video above, the upgraded video player also features a small design facelift. It's our small way of saying "Thanks" to Weebly Pro users for your support! We thrive on your continued feedback to let us know what we're doing right, what we could be doing better, and what new features we should build next. From the entire Weebly team, we hope you have a very happy New Years and prosperous 2011! ImagePerfect... Everywhere! 12/21/2010
Happy holidays everyone. We have a little gift for you. We've expanded the capabilities of ImagePerfect, our awesome built-in image editor, to work with all images on your website and no longer just the header image. Now when you hover your mouse over an image, you'll see an "Edit" button appear. Clicking this will open ImagePerfect, allowing you to crop, rotate, fade the image, and add a number of photo effects (with more to come). In addition, you can overlay multiple images together to create a collage. You'll also notice that you can freely drag your images around within a paragraph for greater layout flexibility. We've created a quick demo video to show you how all these new features work. As we close out 2010, we want to take a moment to thank everyone for supporting us and choosing Weebly to build your web presence. We've grown incredibly this past year, so thank you. Below is a picture of (most of) the team behind Weebly to help you put some faces to the name :-) We're looking forward to a fun, feature-filled new year and wish you guys a healthy, happy, and prosperous 2011! Google just released the Chrome web store, a place for users of the Google Chrome™ web browser to discover and install applications, and we're proud to be featured in the utilities category. Even better, Weebly login has been integrated so that you don't need to sign-up or log-in if you're already logged in to your Google account. Just hit the Weebly app icon, and you'll be ready to edit your site! And as the fastest web browser out there, Chrome provides the best experience for using Weebly today. If you're a Chrome user, be sure to visit our Weebly app page, install the Weebly app, and give us a rating or review! Your Websites Are Now Mobile Friendly! 12/03/2010
![]() We're happy to announce that all websites made with Weebly are now mobile optimized. When someone visits your website from a mobile device, they are automatically shown the mobile version. The color that appears at the top and bottom of the mobile site is configurable under the "Settings" tab of the editor. Here you can also opt to disable the mobile site from showing altogether. In this case, your mobile visitors would still be shown the regular website. We hope you enjoy these new features! As always, we'd love to hear your feedback in the comments and greatly appreciate your support. We have a number of other cool features to announce soon, so make sure to keep on eye on our blog! Mobile Website Beta-testing 11/17/2010
When creating your website with Weebly, you shouldn't have to worry about creating a separate version for mobile phones. Your visitors' experience should be amazing no matter the size of the screen they are viewing your website on. For that reason, we're getting ready to automatically create a version of your website optimized for a mobile experience. But before we release it to everyone, we need your help to make sure everything is working just right. To see the mobile version of your website we've created, just visit yoursite.com/mobile on your mobile phone. So, for this blog, that would be http://blog.weebly.com/mobile. We're looking for any and all feedback on what works, what looks good, and what doesn't. If you have any feedback, just email us at beta@weebly.com. Once we're confident that everything is ready, we'll make it so that your visitors see this version automatically when they visit your site, instead of having to visit /mobile/. As always, we really appreciate your feedback and support! Weebly Pumpkins! 11/01/2010
